Gift Cards Sold in September 2007
The official first week of September (Week 2, light purple bar) indicated a significant decline in the number of gift cards sold on eBay. This was probably due to the long Labor Day weekend with people away. In comparison, the later weeks saw a higher uptick in gift card transactions. Overall, on average Monday has the highest number of transactions during the week. Either people planned to end auctions on Monday, so they can mail out the purchased gift cards at the beginning of the week or most people are using seven day auctions. The highest performing week was Week 5 (dark purple). The above graph omitted eBay auctions for gift cards classified as “junk” by our algorithm , which includes but not limited to coupons and cards with mystery values.
